Joey "Shithead" Keithley und seine Band D.O.A. aus der kanadischen Westküsten-Metropole Vancouver waren 1978 neben den SUBHUMANS eine der ersten Punkbands des Landes. Neben den DEAD KENNEDYS, BLACK FLAG, CIRCLE JERKS, 7 SECONDS, MDC, BAD BRAINS, BIG BOYS und vielen anderen waren sie eine jener Formationen, die damals musikalisch und inhaltlich das definierte, was bis heute unter Hardcore-Punk verstanden wird.
